October housing starts (released November 20) increased 1.5% to 1,228,000 units. Single-family starts decreased 1.8% to 865,000 units, while multi-family increased by 10.3% to 363,000 units. Total U.S. permits, an indicator of future construction, decreased by 0.6% to 1,263,000 units (SAAR).

• Northeast (- 34.1%)
• Midwest (+ 32.9%)
• South (+ 4.7%)
• West (-4.6%)
